We have the ultimate travel trailer camping experience for you. * Not a camp ground, sits on .75 wooded acres. * Lake Superior is waiting for your arrival; this peaceful stretch of beach is a short walk down the driveway. * Finnish sauna anyone? New this season is a barrel sauna (locally made) for the traditional Finnish experience. * Trailer sits alone on a .75 acre forested property, and surrounded by State Forest. * The property is full of gorgeous tall red pines, evergreens, and birch trees. * Trails lead off the property for hiking, mountain biking, off road vehicles too. * The trailer is filled with everything you need. Just bring food, coffee, drink, and your beach stuff. * A good nights sleep on a Serta queen size bed, in a spacious pullout bedroom, and a queen sleeper sofa. * Open floor plan has spacious front kitchen, plenty of counter space, and lots of cupboards. * Custom built from the factory, and we added heated, vibrating, reclining theater seats. * Two flat screen TV * Patio is a large space with lots of outdoor furniture, Webber grill, and fire pit * Wild blueberries are a sure find during mid-July through end of August. * Our property offers a unique Upper Michigan experience. * You will have a great time enjoying the Sauna, Beach, and trails. The sauna is shared with our other seasonal rental on an adjacent lot. The sauna is situated between the rentals, and they are separated by woods. This is the ultimate camping experience. Firewood is provided for the sauna. I have photos of the sauna posted. Cozy Camp Loon is rental cabin on our other property next door. It sits on .75 separate acres. Both rentals have separate parking. The trailer has parking for two vehicles. You can rent both places if you have a large group. It depends on availability. Booking ahead of the summer season is always a better chance to get both rentals for same dates I am always a phone call or text away. My cousin Pam is our caretaker, and she lives close by to help if needed. I’ll have phone numbers in binder, and info on everything. Activities Off Hwy M28 are: * Lake Superior-public deck and stairway, is a short 2 minute walk from our driveway. The shoreline across from our property has large rocks to protect from erosion. We still go down that way, but for those who aren’t able the stairway make it easy to access to the beach. Heading West * Lakenenland 1 mile is a great place. A Local resident built a garden of art from scrap material. You can hike over from our place or drive over * Ojibawa Casino is 4 miles, and the largest in the UP. Newly renovated, and now has entertainment and a restaurant * Chocolay River is 6 miles, and has a kayak/canoe launch. Great fishing too * Michigan Made Shop and Visiter center are 10 miles on your way to Marquette, off Hwy 41 * Marquette is close by only 14 miles Heading East * Au Trian River has a Kayak/canoe launch. It’s only 18 miles to the east of cabin * Au Train is a quaint little gem of a town. It has outfitter rental for kayak and canoes. It has a wonderful public beach, and good places to eat * Pictured Rocks National Lake Shore Park” is 30 miles * Biking all the way to Marquette or Munising right from our driveway. M28 has very wide shoulder that make it a safe and popular ride. * Off road vehicle-ORV trail runs behind our property. ORV heading east is 24 miles long, and going west 2 miles it connects to the ORE Heritage bike only trail. The ORE is 45 miles going all the way to Marquette, and further on to Republic. * Brownstone Inn restaurant is 15 miles, and is a historical location. Excellent food, Friday nights fish fry is best in the region, white fish and Perch * Water falls are easy access of Hwy M28 * Sea kayaking tour, Ship Wreck tour, and Grand Island tour are all off Hwy M28 in the town of Munising I have Brochures on all activities, sight seeing, and some of the best restaurants menus Below I’ve made descriptive highlight of day long excursions that are the best of Upper Michigan Further east of Munising Are little gems towns like the historic town of Grand Maria, and the famous sand dunes (Log Slide Overlook). Remember going down this dune is fun but a bugger going back up. Nearby is White Fish Point lighthouse and museum, which provides history of famous shipwrecks, including the Edmund Fitzgerald that sunk in that area during a fierce November storm in 1975. Close by the museum is Tequanimum Falls State Park. The park offers walking trails, a gorgeous waterfall, and a microbrew restaurant to relax at during your visit. I highly recommend a driving trip up the north west shore of Marquette county, highway 550. It leads to public trails such as Sugar Loaf lookout, little Presque Isle Park, and Harlow Lake. Continue up to the historic town of Big Bay. This town is filled with so much history. The Big Bay Hotel was the place that a famous murder took place in 1952, and was the same site Jimmy Stewart stared in the movie "Anatiomy of a Murder". The hotel has a nice cafe and museum dedicated to the the movie, and another famous guest Henry Ford. The prestigious Huron Mountain Club is located in this same region, but is exclusive to members only. Look up "the secrets of Huron Mountain Club" for the rich history of this truly primitive location, and its world famous members. Henry ford was a member of this club, and he also had a mill factory here that produced the wood panels for the ford vehicles. You can see the abandoned mill from the hotel. Just past the hotel 550 turns in to a dirt road that ends at the Big Bay Lighthouse. It's a B&B now, but you can still tour the grounds and gardens. I tried to provide highlights of this area. It has so much more to offer than mentioned. During the Fall season it has spectacular colors to enjoy, and the cabin is open through October.

Apartment (600 sq. ft.) in Marquette, MI
0 miles from Lake Superior
The "Ray's Random Point" is a quiet, isolated oasis on 300 feet of Lake Superior beach, trout pond, and 10 wooded acres. This enchanted location is only 5 miles from downtown Marquette with easy access to Northern Michigan University, numerous restaurants, shops, hiking & biking trails, and regional events. This is the U.P. at it's finest. After turning off the main road, you will meander 1/2 mile down a paved and gravel driveway through the woods and down toward majestic Lake Superior. Upon arrival, you will hear birds, the wind through the trees, and the water lapping (or crashing!). We adore this place because of the peacefulness and isolation, yet convenience to town. Your apartment is located above a detached garage, so be aware that you will need to navigate open stairs. * You will have a fully stocked kitchen to prepare all your meals. Fully stocked means pots, pans, appliances, oil, spices, coffee, and tea. * Sleeping set-up: Bedroom #1 has a king-size bed. Bedroom #2 has two single beds. The livingroom has a futon couch which can be used as a bed. And there is a loft with an additional twin mattress. * All linens are 100% cotton. And there are plenty of comfy pillows. * High ceiling, and lots of windows. * Water: The tap water is perhaps the best water you will ever taste. Comes fresh from a well and springs on the property. (tested regularly) * Wrap-around deck with outdoor seating and grill. * Wi-Fi access. The system was recently upgraded so you have great internet access. Cell reception is spotty. Texting works fine, but phone calls may be challenging. * There is a TV with a DVD player, but no cable connection. * Short, sandy trail down to the beach. Great beach for playing and swimming. Sandy and shallow. However! Do know that Lake Superior is unpredictable. A big storm may take the sand away overnight, leaving a beach of rocks. And then another storm brings the sand back. There is currently (June 2020) a beautiful, small sandy beach. Please know that Lake Superior is very dynamic. We have had a huge beach and we have had a rocky beach. Literally, because of the high water, the beach now changes week to week depending upon water and wind movement. We can not guarantee what the beach will look like. Talk to Grandmother Gitchee Gumee (Lake Superior) about that. * We do NOT provide kayaks or any watercraft. You may bring your own. If you do, please bring life jackets as well. * A/C * You will likely be overwhelmed by Lake Superior expanding in front of your apartment. However, you may also be enchanted by a spring fed pond resting alongside the driveway with Blue Heron, Mallard Ducks, Kingfisher, and Bull Frogs. Yet of more interest to some are the Brook and Rainbow trout hidden within the pond. We have provided fish food pellets and feeding them is a delight. Access to trails: 1 mile to Sugarloaf 2 miles to Hogsback, North Country Trail and Noquemanon Trails 4 miles to Little Presque Isle and Harlow Lake And many, many more....! This property is owned and loved by the Ray family. We are happy to share this magical place. Welcome!

Cabin (704 sq. ft.) in Grand Marais, MI
0 miles from Lake Superior
Summer 2020 weekly booking schedule is from a SUNDAY to SUNDAY only between June 21, 2020, and Aug 30, 2020. At all other times it is a 2 night minimum. Note: We have added some additional cleaning protocols in 2020 - see below. An original log cabin inside, this property is on the bay in Grand Marais, Michigan. The Bay Cabin is a small 3 bedroom, 1 bathroom cabin with a study. It has a beach in the backyard, as it is fronting onto the bay in Grand Marais. A few yards short of the beach is the firepit where you can relax and watch fireworks on July 4 or just enjoy the tranquility of the water. The Bay Cabin also has a large deck for relaxing or dining while taking advantage of the great views. Behind the property a few hundred feet is the Lake Superior shore front. Inside the Bay Cabin you will find a fully equipped kitchen, soft and comfortable bed and bath linen and cable TV. The master bedroom has a queen size bed with a 3 inch memory foam topper and a view of the bay. The second bedroom has a full size bed. The third bedroom has bunk beds and the study has a twin bed. You will also find a lovely granite gas fireplace to warm your toes in the living room when there is a chill in the air. The Bay Cabin was originally built in 1936 as a traditional full log cabin. Sometime later it was sided on the outside for additional insulation, but the inside remains true whole logs. The floors are lovely local hardwood with soft rugs placed in strategic spots. A soft leather couch and rocking chairs with ottomans completes the log cabin decor. Outside there is a large deck with reclining chairs and ottomans, and a dining table. Under the side porch we have placed a wood picnic bench for outside dining on a hot sunny summer day or for when it is raining. For relaxing, with a warm beverage or a cocktail, use the deck chairs or the Bay Cabin's Adirondack chairs down at the firepit and beach. There is also a charcoal grill available for your use. The Bay Cabin's private beach area IS 122 feet at the water's edge and 118 feet at the bank starting from the pine trees on the east side of the property. This beach is perfect for swimming, paddling, boating from, or even for pulling your sea plane into. It is also a wonderful place to sit at the edge of the water and enjoy an evening cocktail or a morning coffee. If you would like a long beach walk, just head to the open beach on the north side of the Bay Cabin by the beach accesses at either end of the road. The Bay Cabin is about 600 feet from the center of town, playground, markets, stores, galleries, restaurants and bars. Go the other way 500 feet and you'll be at the lighthouse. Less than two miles away by road is Sable Falls and Sable Dunes, a shorter distance away if you walk the beach. Sable Lake, the Log Slide and Pictured Rocks are a little further on by road. Come stay at the Bay Cabin and enjoy the experience of having your own waterfront cabin for a while. Open between late spring (May 15, 2015) to last week of October. Summer bookings: from last week of June to end of the first full week of September bookings are weekly only from Sunday to Sunday. At other times bookings may start on any day for a 2 night minimum. CLEANING: We have added some extra cleaning protocols in 2020 including using white linen and using bleach and Lysol spray products. INTERNET: None in the Bay Cabin. Available at various places around town, including (subject to change without notice) at the Diner a short distance away, the Grand Marais Tavern, and at the Grand Marais Outfitters in town. House (1500 sq. ft.) in Eagle Harbor, MI
0 miles from Lake Superior
Saturday to Saturday weekly rental. (Sorry, 2021 is sold out. Now booking for 2022.) This 1,500 sq. ft. home is located on Great Sand Bay near the village of Eagle Harbor in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Situated on State Highway M-26, also known as Sand Dunes Drive, the Keweenaw Hodge Podge Lodge is located about halfway between the villages of Eagle River and Eagle Harbor. Frequent visitors to the area will know about The Jampot, just a four or five minute walk to the west. The original 600 sq. ft., one-story structure was built some 50 years ago and was a typical summer cottage with two rooms: the bedroom with a small bathroom and a great room that contained the kitchen and living space. In the 1990's, a modern two-story 900 sq. ft. addition was completed with two bedrooms and a shared half bath upstairs, while downstairs is the living room and full bathroom complete with tub/shower. The original portion is now open space with the kitchen, dining area and family room all in one area with a separate laundry room. The accommodations include the two bedrooms upstairs, one bedroom with a queen bed and the other with two twin beds and two bunk beds, both bedrooms sharing a half bath. Downstairs sleeping arrangements include a pull-out couch and a futon in the living room as well as a pull-out couch in the original section easily accommodating eight guests. There is a full bathroom downstairs. For those that want to cook, there is a refrigerator, stove and oven, charcoal grill, and a variety of cooking utensils available for use. A coffee pot, microwave, crock pot, griddle and toaster oven are also provided. A few basic supplies are provided, but you should plan on bringing your own just in case you don't find what you want. Very good cell coverage is available from Verizon at the property but as you travel around the Keweenaw you will find many dead spots and coverage will switch between carriers. WiFi is provided and is the only option for watching television as the home is located in an area that cannot receive a signal and there is no cable or satellite provided. Feel free to bring your own Firestick / Chromecast / Roku device and sign into your home account. Download speeds are approximately 2 - 3 mbps which is adequate for average resolution. There is a DVD player and a small number of DVDs to watch or bring your own! Walking out the back door, down five stairs and then about 20 steps brings you to the beach! The washed rocks are smooth and easy to walk on and typically extend just into the water where you will find rocks and sand for a few feet before turning into all sand. The water is clear and clean and can be deceptively cold, after all it is Lake Superior! You can wade, swim or kayak right from the beach. This is the perfect place to spend an afternoon or evening listening to the waves, watching the sunsets and catching a glimpse of the many bald eagles that frequent the shoreline. Located in the Keweenaw (KEY-wuh-naw) Peninsula, many visitors and locals consider this to be the most beautiful part of the Upper Peninsula. The rugged shoreline is readily accessible to fishermen, boaters, kayakers, divers and swimmers and there are several marinas nearby including Eagle Harbor, Copper Harbor and Lac La Belle as well as several boat launches providing access to smaller lakes. The inland areas are heavily wooded with maples, oaks, poplars and pines creating beautiful fall colors that rival many of the New England sights. Just 18 miles away is Copper Harbor, the "end of the road", or as the sign says it is the beginning of US41. Only 1990 miles to Miami. Copper Harbor has become a destination for mountain biking and kayaking in the summer and downhill skiing and dog sled racing in the winter. From there, you can catch the Isle Royale Queen and take the 3 to 4 hour boat ride to Isle Royale National Park. The main reason people visit is for the beauty, the peaceful environment and a reminder of how things used to be. Enjoy your stay!
